Africa, under the perfusion of the World Bank and the IMF, is crumbling under the weight of its debt and remains the continent of great poverty. Why do countries with such important natural resources as the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo and Mali remain the poorest in the world? Why does a large part of their budget remain devoted to debt service?
From a lucid assessment of the situation, and thanks to the analysis of renowned experts, “The Wages of Debt” explores the reasons for these failures and deciphers the mechanisms at play, taking us from Washington to Kinshasa, Brazzaville and Bamako, via Paris, Brussels and Geneva.
