BUDDHA’S TOOTH

LA DENT DE BOUDDHA

15′, directed by Jean-Pierre Carlon.

The perahera is a great religious festival in honor and remembrance of the “relic”: the tooth of Buddha which would have been recovered by Sri Lankan monks after his death and kept in a temple in Kandy.
Every year at the same time, at nightfall, the crowd gathers in the main street of Kandy to see the elephants in parade clothes ridden by high-ranking dignitaries: the “nilamés”.
